Use a nourishing cream for comfort

Apricot Kernel Oil

"Apricot kernel oil has a light, silky feel and texture, is absorbed very easily and quickly and especially suited to mature, dry, sensitive and inflamed skins." (1), p. 155.

Avocado Oil

"Almost all vitamins can be found in the unprocessed oil in significant amounts plus a small amount of lecithin. The age of skin is partly determined by its content of soluble collagen. A recent study found that treatment with avocado oil significantly increases the water sloluble collagen content in the dermis. It is, therefore, a highly valued oil for creams and lotions, but is very expensive. The skin compatibility of avocado oil is excellent. In addition, it somewhat protects the skin from ultraviolet rays." (3), p.15.
"The sterolins in avocado oil have been found to help diminish age spots." (3), p. 14.
"Deeply penetrating, very rich and nutritious, suited to under-nourished, dry, dehydrated and mature skins and it can help to treat eczema." (1), p.155.

Castor Oil
"Castor oil is produced from the seed of Ricinus Communis and is traditionally a healing oil, highly valued for its therapeutic properties. " (6), p.26.

Jojoba Oil
(pronounced
Ho-ho-ba)
"A natural stable oil/wax with superior properties that leave the skin soft, supple and smooth. It heals acne prone skin and acts as a sunscreen." (3), p. 17.
" Jojoba oil is light textured and deeply penetrating, making it valuable for all skin types. The chemical composition of Jojoba closely resembles sebum, the skin's natural lubricant. This gives jojoba oil excellent moisturizing and emollient properties." (1), p. 157.
"With a structure very similar to human skin's sebum, Jojoba oil is a wonderful choice in leave-on skin care applications, to rejuvenate the skin and protect it from external aggressions. Widely used to repair damaged skin." (6), p.28.

Rosehip Oil
"An increasingly popular oil due to its tissue-regenerating properties which can help slow the signs of ageing. Especially suited to dry, mature, sunburned and lacklustre skins. " (1), p.157.
"Rosehip oil is one of the rarest and most precious skin oils, particularly valued for its restorative properties and the ability to attenuate wrinkles and aging marks. Best for mature skin, to reduce scarring and stretch marks; it is not recommended for acne prone skin." (6), p. 30.

Sesame Oil
"It is used in cosmetics because of its content of sterolins which are valuable moisturizers and skin conditioning agents. (3), p.18.
"Sesame seed oil is nourishin, emollient and has a natural SPF (Sun Protection Factor)." (6), p.30.

Sunflower Oil

"Sunflower oil is a light oil with good emollient properties. It contains a relatively large amount of natural vitamin E. Because of its lightness and 'glide' sunflower oil makes a good base for massage oils." (6), p. 23.

Wheatgerm Oil
"High content of several important active ingredients for skin care. Wheatgerm oil has the highest vitamin E content of any oil. In addition it contains provitamin A and D, lecithin and a high content of unsaturated fatty acid compounds."
"Obtained from the germ of the seed, wheatgerm oil contains high amounts of anti-oxidants, including vitamin E, F and V. It aids in protecting the skin from free radicals and re-inforces its natural protection from external aggressions, like high winds and extreme weather conditions. (Must be avoided by those allergic to gluten as in coeliac disease)". (6), pp.31-32.
